The search field lets you search for and move the map to places in Norway.
Houses are shown in the map unless you zoom too far out. (A warning will be displayed if you do.) Tap a house to see its details.
City buildings are similar to houses but will first show a list of apartments.
In the Pro version of the app you can see historical imagery from DigitaltMuseum directly in the map.
The Pro version lets you enable or disable the individual map layers under this tab.
By tapping this icon you can start a geographical search for houses or city buildings from the center of the current map.
The search will display results within an increasing radius illustrated by a blue circle in a map atop the result list.
The search can be paused at any time for inspection, and the results may be filtered using the text field.
Tap to perform a geographical search for people, similar to the search for houses or city buildings.
The pro version of the app lets you store people and places as relatives. These can later be exported in the Gedcom 5.5 format.
Moves the map to your GPS position.

The census data is primarily structured on the basis of residence. This means that by opening an apartment or house one can see the associated residents and how they are related.
These relations are based in the primary provider of the residence, usually the role "father". All other residents are then listed by their association to this person, typically "daughter", "wife" or "brother".
This also applies if a person is opened directly; related people will list their family status in accordance to the primary provider of their household rather than the person you are currently viewing.

Why aren't people showing up in the proximity search?
This is a problem with the service from Digitalarkivet.
Once they fix it people should start showing up in the search again without changing the app.
Will other census years be covered?
Unique for the 1910 census is that Digitalarkivet geo-referenced it - meaning every residence was placed on a map.
Should they extend this capability to other datasets they will be included in ÆtteForsker.
